Edinburgh FS Charity Fashion Show

Recently, I have had the exciting opportunity to take part in Edinburgh fashion society, charity fashion show. Working with the help of a friend we set up at 6pm after a long day in the library writing our dissertations. The balance between writing a dissertation and managing Abby Hunnings Jewellery has not been easy, but it feels as though I am getting to grips with it. Having previously gathered the stall decorations from Esther and from my room, we set out to display the table with all kinds of trinkets, and a velvet scarf that I found in the charity shop in Edinburgh back in December.

When we arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing, the DJ was playing and Esther and I were excited. It’s the first time I’ve ever sold my rings at an event like this. All the designers had set up their clothes and it was truly inspiring seeing all their handmade clothes on the models. It was also great to see Ally who invited my to sell at the show, a friend from one of my group projects. I was not expecting to sell much because these in-person stores are always a hit or miss, but I was just happy to be there and gain experience. A few people came up and looked at my stall but no one had bought anything yet.

Amazingly just before the fashion show started, I got an email from a customer asking for multiple rings to be custom made, which gave me the confidence boost I needed to go into the evening. The fashion show started and it was beautiful, then everyone rushed upstairs. Amazingly, we sold 11 rings in half an hour and the vibes could not have been higher. I was absolutely buzzing and I was so grateful to have the opportunity. The show has got me so excited for the future of Abby Hunnings Jewellery will look like after university. Thank you to everyone who made it possible. You can check out Edinburgh fashion society Instagram here @uoefashionsociety.
